in size, with ceilings over 4 meters high) each differently decorated with its
own furniture and unique atmosphere. Many of the rooms have engravings and
paintings. Mother of pearl inlaid desks, chandeliers, copper and glass
lanterns, and wrought iron sofas sought out throughout Egypt over many years;
add a unique charm to the bedrooms. The bedrooms open out onto a patio with a
central fountain, and onto the Al Moudira garden. There is telephone, satellite
television, and mini-bar. The windows have mosquito nets and interior wooden
shutters.
Facilities
Al Moudira was designed in the
tradition of the great Arab palaces, combining pleasure and refinement.
Cupolas, arches, columns, arabesques and high ceilings create a feeling of
perfect serenity. The colors chosen for the walls are inspired from those used
in the ancient Egyptian temples and palaces: ochre, reds and blues. Open
courtyard at the entrance of the hotel. Sofas and kelims placed around a
fountain invite one to linger and unwind. Hundred year-old sculpted wooden
columns, relics from long forgotten opulent oriental residences, have been
saved from neglect. Al Moudira is a green oasis surrounded by the desert. The
eight-hectare garden is planted with lemon, mandarin, orange, mango and guava
trees. Palm trees, flamboyant hibiscuses and eucalyptuses line the brick
borders.
Scents of jasmine and henna linger
in the patios and on the terraces. The airy swimming pool (200 m2)
is set in the garden. There is also a large vegetable garden.

Breakfast is served either on one
of the terraces or in the orange-hued dining room. Throughout the day drinks
and light snacks are served by the swimming pool under the shade of the large
parasols. Dinner is served in the large dining room, with its brick dome and
magnificent Ottoman style crystal chandelier. A different menu is prepared each
day by the chef. The bar, with its comfortable colonial armchairs, its warm
colors, exudes a friendly relaxed atmosphere.
